Beautiful and durable, get the look of wood in a steel insulated garage door. Coachman doors are crafted with multiple layers of low maintenance steel, and a wood grain textured composite overlay. A variety of overlay options transform the Coachman door, making it the perfect complement to Craftsman style homes, or homes looking to update their appearance. Create the look of an old-fashioned swing-out door complete with hardware, or choose a more subtle overlay and no hardware for a clean sophisticated finish. The Coachman door comes in four different classic factory finish paint colours, and can be painted just about any colour to complement your home.
Paint over grain
On a painted clapboard elevation, a woodgrain garage door fights the siding. The painted carriage version keeps the overlays and the divided lights but sits in the same visual language as the rest of the house - which is why it looks right on coastal and colonial homes where the faux-wood version looks borrowed.
A Coachman door cannot be painted a dark colour. Clopay measures this as Light Reflective Value: anything at LRV 12 or below voids the door’s warranty, and shades between LRV 13 and 38 have to use an approved solar-reflective paint. If you want a genuinely dark door, the one to look at is Canyon Ridge Elements, which is built for it. Ask us and we will bring samples of both.
